The St Vincent’s Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine Department is raising funds as part of its fundraising drive for the Scrubs Run.
Acute postoperative pain is one of the major patient concerns during the postoperative period.
Acute pain delays recovery, is distressing for patients, carers and families and is associated with long-term chronic pain in up to 20% of patients.
The team plans to implement a system which will facilitate closer and more accurate monitoring of postoperative pain leading to better management of acute pain and better auditing of our service. This will result in improved clinical care for our patients.
